I love meeting other working campers and finding out what they do to make ends meet while on the road. It turns out, there are many different ways that mobile workers can earn a living while traveling.
Remote Attorney
I met an amazing woman in an RV park in Borrego Springs, California who worked remotely as an attorney while doing a great job of home schooling her boys.
Mary Kay Top Sales Rep
In an RV park near Charleston, I met a woman who was a top sales rep for Mary Kay. One afternoon, she held a makeover session in the gazebo by the pool. We drank wine, tried out products, and talked girl-talk for awhile. Not a bad way to make a sales call.
“Get Your Picture with a Parrot” Man
You know when you go to the boardwalk or the beach or a tourist spot and there is a guy who will let you take a picture of you and a parrot? I stayed next door to him in an RV park in San Fransisco. Not only does he get extra points for creativity, but it turns out that he makes about the same money that I make in a day.
Horse Tail Holder Inventor Lady
In a park outside of Charleston, I met a woman who invented some sort of contraption for horses. I guess there is a breed of show horses where the owners snip the tendon under the tail in order to make it so the tail points upwards. (Something like that…)
While the tail heals, they put the tail in some sort of sling to hold it upright. But, there are XYZ issues with this. So, this woman invented some contraption that fixes XYZ issues and sells them for $10k a pop.
Legal Weed Farmer
Apparently, the area we stayed in in Northern California is called the Jade Triangle because filled with legal (an illegal) marijuana grow facilities and a huge percentage of the population works in the industry.
One gentleman we met in Fortuna, CA is in the process of getting his permit to get his medical marijuana facility up and running.
